The year 2021 is coming to an end, and things are about to get hectic for all of us. Time spent with family for the holidays, work schedules, school vacations, parties, and so on all mean that you will be time pressed if you aren’t already!

Regardless of how busy you are, we urge you to think about your dental health before the end of December, especially if you have dental insurance.

Here are four reasons to visit the dentist before the end of the year.

Dental benefits do not carry over:

Because most dental insurance plans operate on a calendar year, benefits that are not used by December 31 will expire.

Typically, benefits do not carry over to the following year. This include money paid toward your deductible. If you happen to have met your deductible, or are close, you’ll benefit from getting additional dental work done for your child.

If you wait till January, the deductible will have reset and the amount your insurance plan may pay toward your child’s treatment could be less. That means more out of pocket expenses for your family.

Dental plan premiums and deductibles are likely to rise:

Whether you pay for your own dental insurance or get it through your employer, most insurance companies change their rates and plan details every year.

Sometimes details of dental insurance plans change and certain things that were once covered aren’t anymore. If you think your child will need a treatment that you know your plan currently covers, don’t risk it.

That means your monthly premium may increase next year, and your deductible may change as well. To save the most money, it’s best to get your dental care through your current plan.

The holidays are approaching, and dental issues will only worsen:

Your dental plan most likely has an annual cap. Regular cleanings and checkups will not only help you avoid costly dental problems, but you will also be able to better budget for dental expenses.

Regular cleanings are simply a wise financial decision, as is addressing current dental issues. A cavity could require more extensive treatment if not treated today.

No one wants to spend their holidays with tooth pain!

You’ll have a better idea of what to expect if you schedule a cleaning and checkup now. You simply don’t know what dental issues may arise in the coming year. They are usually unexpected!
